BAU 11U White Narrowly Misses Winning Third Straight Tournament Championship

BAU 11U White (AA) continued to play rock-solid baseball in its quest for a third straight championship at the Baseball Freak Tournament . The club was dominant in pool play on the strength of a consistent offensive attack and stingy pitching and entered the playoffs as the top seed after outscoring opponents 20-5. With the Championship game in site, BAU continued its dominance in the semi-final playoff game beating its foe 10-2. Unfortunately, BAU came up just a little short in the Championship game losing by a score of 6-5.

BAU 11U White continues to play all-around good baseball. The club is now 9-1 through three tournaments and will only get better as the players continue to develop and gel.

BAU has a Great Showing at September Ends Tournament - Earns 9U and 11U Championships!

The boys of Bay U got the Fall tournament season off to a bang by winning two Championship and narrowly missing another at the September Ends Tournament in Tracy. Playing in its first tournament after winning the XDS World Series in July, BAU 11U (formerly BAU Red) picked up where it left off by powering its way through pool and playoff play to dominate the tournament. Led by tournament MVP Avantae S., who drilled five home-runs in 4 games, BAU bested its opponents by a combined score of 51-11 to win its first TPR tournament.

Not to be outdone, BAU's new 9U club got into the swing of things and won it's first tournament. Even more impressive is the fact that this was BAU 9U's first-ever tournament. BAU rode the fine pitching of tournament MVP Josh M. to beat the California Roosters 6-4 in the finals.

BAU 10U narrowly missed playing for the champonship after losing a semifinal game in extra innings to the eventual champions, Central Coast Crushers. Throughout the tournament BAU 10U showed tremendous offensive prowess and solid pitching, to give its coaches and parents plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming season and beyond.

Overall, this was a great showing by the BAU 9U, 10U, and 11U clubs!

Having competed against nationally ranked teams from Arizona, Hawaii, Texas, and California, Bay Area United won the  XDS AAA Division Championship after battling it's way through tournament pool play against Major level teams.

In the playoff rounds, Bay United outscored its opponents 18-7 on the strength of strong pitching performances by Matthew Hallgrimson and Anthony Armendariz, timely hitting by Avantae Spikener, Dylan Cole, Dylan Singh, Justin Lynch, Karson Jordan, Nick Bacurra, Samad Ali, and Ty Aldridge, and solid team defense.

In it's opening playoff game, Bay United held back the Kahala Warriors of Hawaii by a score of 8-3 on the strength of a 250-foot homerun blast by Spikener and a 4-hit gem by Hallgrimson. Matched against powerhouse San Diego Longhorns, Bay United rode a 7 strikeout pitching performance by Armendariz to reach the Championship game.  Facing-off against the top-seeded Bombers Baseball Club of Marin, Bay United staked a 4-2 lead and held-off the Bombers to win the championship game 4-3. Hallgrimson led the charge on the hill with a 3-hitter, supported by flawless defense.

BAU Red - Super 4th Classic (June  2013) - BAU Red Has Arrived! Finishes as Runner-up in Top Tourny

Playing in a seven team tournament featuring four major 10U clubs, BAU Red demonstrated that they have truly arrived. In pool play, BAU Red beat a top 10U major team behind timely hitting and great pitching to secure a birth in the playoff rounds. Battling 100+ degree heat and needing to win two games to reach the finals, BAU knocked off another major club in a 3-2 nail-bitter, setting-up a showdown with the number one seed. Playing with a sense of urgency and the Championship game in sight, BAU scored 10 first inning runs to propel itself into the Finals behind a 15-4 mercy rule victory.

Facing it's toughest opponent of the year in powerhouse Club Allstar, BAU Red entered the bottom of the 5th inning leading by one run before eventually falling 11-6. This was a great tournament for our organization and BAU Red. The boys fought hard, persevered, and played solid, solid baseball. They learned a lot about themselves, the game, and that their hard work during team training and individual practice sessions is paying off. Well-done BAU Red, now its on to San Diego for the World Series!

BAU Red - Father's Day Classic  (June  2013) - BAU Dominant Before Falling in Semi's to Eventual Champion

The boys of BAU Red put on a dominant display of hitting, pitching and defense during pool play to enter the playoffs as the #1 seed. BAU's first-round playoff game resulted in a 19-1 mercy-rule victory setting up a semi-final game against one of tournament's top teams. BAU battled and battled but couldn't quite get the bats going before eventually falling 7-4. Despite falling short, overall, strong performance from BAU Red.

BAU Red and LA Rockstars Teaming up for San Diego

BAU Red - Memorial Day Classic  (May  2013) - BAU Finishes Weekend as Championship Finalist

In a hard fought tournament over the Memorial Day Weekend, BAU Red narrowly missed winning it's second Championship, falling in the Championship Game 7-4. This tough, three-day tournament featured 9 teams all battling for top billing.

BAU Red ended Day 1 of the tournament 2-0 and as the top seed after beating its opponents by a combined score of 17-3. On display was BAU's full arsenal of timely hitting, defense, solid pitching, and SPEED! Day two featured a late afternoon loss to the Bay Valley Bombers and a win over the previously unbeaten and friendly rival San Ramon Slammers. The win setup a first-round playoff re-matchup with the Slammers, a game which BAU won on the strength of strong starting and relief pitching and excellent defense.

In the Championship Game, BAU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the top-seeded Martinez Hornets battled back to cut into and take a 3-2 lead during the middle innings.  The game was nip-and-tuck the entire way with BAU narrowly missing a few big scoring opportunities. BAU eventually fell 7-4 to the gutsy Hornets but the boys played a solid game.

All-in-all this was another great tournament showing by BAU Red. All of the boys are developing as planned and this growth is translating into strong team performances (two championship appearances in our last three tournys). Way to go boys, keep working hard, developing, and representing "The U."

Overall, BAU Red demonstrated strong pitching, defense, and offense, and great sportsmanship.
